Cosmetic Surgery > Liposuction Surgery
Liposuction probably needs little introduction, and is one of the most routinely performed cosmetic procedures in the United States for gradually removing fat.
The procedure is performed by using small cannulas connected to a vacuum used to re-contour areas of the body such as the abdomen, thighs, legs, waistline, buttocks, arms and chest.
The technique is especially useful in treating isolated fat deposits creating a "saddlebag" like appearance. Optimal results are obtained when the procedure is performed when the skin retains its natural elasticity.
Liposuction is usually performed under sedation without the need of general anesthesia.
Newer techniques of liposuction are constantly being introduced and are readily available such as the tumescent technique and the use of ultrasound assisted liposuction.
The goal of these improved methods is to decrease swelling and bruising, improving the end result and decreasing the recovery time needed after the procedure which is approximately one week on average.
At the time of your initial office consultation, Dr. Fusi will discuss is great detail the procedure, associated risks and postoperative recovery.
